As of March 25th, employees of Cementarnica USJE AD Skopje begin an action "At Work Without a Car". Every Wednesday employees of USJE will use public transport, cycling or walk to reach their job place. The employees that will use their car to come to rheir workplace will voluntarily donate 150 denars and the funds collected will be donated to the Children's hospital for respiratory diseases - Kozle.
Through this activity, the company's management and employees want to set a personal example and to confirm their clear commitment to environmental protection and promote the principles of a healthy lifestyle.
"In the past few years we have been actively working on investment in our company that provide a completed process that is in full harmony with the environment. Our sincere commitment and significant investments have been confirmed by all relevant institutions and the A integrated environmental permit is only a further addition to this commitment. But, going a step further, we as citizens of Skopje are aware that traffic is one of the key factors for the environment and therefore through this symbolic action, we want to set an example and encourage others to join this action", Boris Hrisafov, CEO of Cementarnica USJE AD Skopje said.
According to the data, thousands of residents of Europe suffer from dependence on their cars and refuse to walk, even short distances. Such habit negatively impacts human health and the surrounding area, and has negative impact on the economic situation. Therefore, the aim of this action is to create a habit not to use cars when it is not necessary.
Cementarnica USJE also invited other institutions, companies and associations to join this kind of activism and set personal example and commitment to contribute to the popularization of this action to change the mindsets and habits.
