As SDG Pioneer, USJE participated in the panel conference “Global goals for local sustainability” which was organized by the Association Konekt, in partnership with Agora and the Bulgarian Network of the Global Compact and which took place today as a final event of the project "Building Cross-Sector Partnerships for Sustainable Development" funded by the European Union.
The HR&CSR Manager, Ms. Magdalena Slavejkova was a participant in the conference, speaking about the benefits for Cementarnica USJE from aligning the USJE strategy for social responsibility with the goals for sustainable development, as well as which are our key cooperation with other parts and with greatest impact on the society.
Within the two panel discussions, representatives of international organizations, domestic and foreign companies, as well as governmental officials exchanged opinions and informed about the manners of application of the Sustainable Development Goals with the local business community, by presenting the successful experiences from the international and domestic practice.
The conference gathered together in one place all the relevant stakeholders from the country that are committed to the fulfilment of the Agenda 2030 on the Sustainable Development Goals. In this manner, they participated in the creation of the sustainable development policies, thus contributing to the reform processes for EU integration and connection of our country with the current global trends.
A key-note speech at the Conference was given by Mr. Nikola Bertolini, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation in our country who stressed the EU commitment to provide active support to our country for successful implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in terms of which further contribution is also expected from the institutions and the companies, as well as civil society organizations.
