The technological process in all cement plants around the world is dependent on the use of natural resources. Being aware of this, we at Cementarnica USJE are making every effort to reduce all types of environmental impact. Within that frame, we regularly conduct a comprehensive environmental impact assessment and rehabilitation plans that cover all aspects of the development, operation and closure of quarries.
In accordance with these efforts, a study on the rehabilitation of the company's quarries has been prepared by the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje, as well as a plan for a green belt around the plant's perimeter. To ensure the quality implementation of these plans, we hired a specialized contractor, which helped us transform some of the plant's grounds into a nursery for the production of seedlings used for afforestation.
The rehabilitation of our quarries, including afforestation and other biodiversity management activities at these sites, adheres to the Sustainability Guidelines for Quarry Rehabilitation and Biodiversity Management, published from Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA).
